Dispensary Services

If you are at patient at Townhead Surgery and live more than a mile from a pharmacy you can get your prescriptions from our on-site dispensary.

What are the benefits for you?

• Our dispensary is open from 8.00am – 6.00pm, every week day.
• You can order your medication online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, via your Practice Online Account or via the NHS App. However, online requests will not be actioned (signed by a GP) until the next working day. We ask that you allow 5 working days for your prescription to be ready before collection and if you have given consent, we will text you once your prescription is ready. (therefore please make sure we have your up-to-date mobile number).
• You can also post your request via the external post or via the post box in the entrance hall, in Settle or Hellifield Surgery.
• If you have a repeat prescription for your medication, we can make up your monthly prescription ready for you to collect, by signing up our Managed Repeats’ Service.

We do not take prescription request over the telephone.

• Should you require an urgent prescription, please contact reception during opening hours. When the surgery is closed please contact 111 or alternatively an emergency prescription may be issued by any community pharmacy (pharmacies may charge for this service).  They may ask for proof of your medication ie a tablet box with the attached label.

Our dispensary is located in the same building as our GPs, which means that any queries can be answered quickly and efficiently.

If you are not entitled to get your medication from us, we can send your prescription electronically to your preferred pharmacy, this includes Boots Chemist in Settle.
